Planning Granted- Grady Joinery Wind Turbine

04/12/2012 Wind Energy Direct has received consent from An Bord Pleanala to erect a wind turbine with a tip height of 125m at the Grady Joinery facility, Brackloonagh South, Charlestown, Co Mayo. Work will start on a turbine supply contract and BOP contracts early in the new year. This project is an autoproduction site.

Planning Granted- Castlecool, Lough Egish Wind Turbine.

7/11/2012 Wind Energy Direct has received planning consent from Monaghan County Council to erect a wind turbine with a hub height of 80m and rotor diameter up to 90m at the Castlecool Facility, Tullynamalra, Lough Egish, co Monaghan. This project is an autoproduction site.

Wind Energy Direct commissions turbine at Astellas Plant

12/3/2012 Wind Energy Direct completed the commissioning of this project in February 2012 following joint testing with Enercon the turbine manufacture. The turbine will generate a significant portion of Astellas’s electricity needs and also provide the associated carbon reduction benefits.

WED sponsors National School trip to the BT Young Scientist exhibition.

12/1/2012 All of the 6th class of Dromclough NS attended the Young Scientist Exhibition in Dublin in January, where they took part in the Primary Science Fair. Their project was: “Wind as a Force of Destruction and a Source of Energy”, which drew much attention in Dublin from visitors to the Fair.

Commissioning of 4MW Development at Munster Joinery

Wind Energy Direct is delighted to announce the launch of its 4MW wind energy project on the site of Munster Joinery, Ballydesmond, Co. Cork. This innovative project is the first of its kind in Ireland and marks the beginning of autoproduction for large energy users.

Two Enercon 2MW wind turbines were installed on the production site of Munster Joinery, a leading manufacturer of energy efficient windows and doors. This on-site energy source will provide Munster Joinery with:

  • Energy cost savings in excess of €1 million over the next five years
  • Provide a significant portion of the company’s energy needs
  • Carbon savings of over 6,000 tonnes per annum

Wind Energy Direct operates a ‘build, own and operate’ turnkey business model. The company enables large industry users to benefit from competitively priced carbon-free electricity without any capital outlay.
