We Take The Planning Off Your Hands
Wind Energy Direct can manage your project from the start. Beginning with an expert site assessment, and progressing to construction management and punctual delivery. Wind Energy Direct invests the time and management skills, and you benefit from the end result.
The Planning Process
Having made a site assessment, the first step is a feasibility study. This will be carried out by WED engineers who will undertake the following:
- Estimate the wind regime on-site
- Identify possible turbine locations
- Assess the proximity of the site to other dwellings
- Assess the proximity to buildings, ESB lines, etc
- Identify the use of surrounding land
- Identify any environmental designations in the area
- Carry out a preliminary planning assessment
- Assess financial projections
- Look at possible effects on telecommunication service providers
- Locate a suitable grid connection point
If the feasibility study is positive, our engineers will begin measuring the on-site wind resource by installing an anemometer and will investigate any potential difficulties by meeting with the local planners.
The Ideal Site:
- Industrial (brownfield) with large base load of at least 300kW (close to 24/7)
- Large site with no dwellings in very close proximity
- Good wind resource – we can verify this aspect
- Located in a non-sensitive planning area
